THE FLIGHT: Y70253 Luton to Dubai, Boeing 767, 100 seats in 2x2x2 configuration.
THE CHECK-IN: There's a dedicated Silverjet 'terminal' at Luton, adjacent to the main one. Silverjet cabs at the train station run free transfers to the lounge. A recep-tionist checks in passengers and luggage on arrival. No queue, making for swfit progress to the private lounge.
THE LOUNGE: Light and airy and decorated with Dunhill luggage collection. There's no business centre but it does have wifi access. Seating is in screened-off areas for up to 100 people. There's a good selection of hot and cold drinks and snacks, plus a good variety of wines.
THE BOARDING PROCESS: Called about 45 minutes before flight departure. Given thorough security check and boarded on to buses out to the plane with no hold-ups.
THE SEAT: Seating is slightly off-set for added privacy. The six-foot, three-inch long flatbeds were comfortable, though taller passengers might struggle in the seat's upright position. There's also a massage facility built into the seat.
THE SERVICE/ENTERTAINMENT: Very personal service – more like hotel staff than air crew. Basic amenity pack in grey plastic. No inflight magazine. Entertainment on demand using hand-held e-digital players for movies. Drinks and snack on take-off; all meals served plated, with a choice of three main courses. Refreshingly, no pilot announcements during the flight. Blue and brown colour scheme throughout.
THE arrival: Coach to dedicated lounge in executive flight services terminal. Passports taken away for immigration and then returned. Breakfast buffet available.
THE VERDICT: A good Business Class flight with excellent staff. Very good value compared to regular Business Class fares, and the dedicated lounges are a big bonus. Meal service is uncluttered and the menu simple and tasty. Overall colour scheme is relaxing and modern. If there's one quibble, it's that the seating is too close together to retain total privacy on a long flight.
